NaPoWriMo, Day Twenty-One: “Guy Fieri”
Guy Fieri
Oh patron saint
of Flavortown,
we thank you
for your goatee,
your trash can
nachos and bold
spice. Shape us
in your image
to love the food
that is broad
and powerful.
May our tips
be frosted, plates
large and full.
Teach us to fry
everything, pour
multiplied sauces
upon our chicken.
Save our palates
from nuance
and show us dishes
from many diners,
drive-ins, and dives
forever and ever.
Thanks for reading! April is National Poetry Writing Month, and this year I’m writing and publishing a poem about food each day. My 2021, 2020, and 2019 NaPoWriMo poems (about GIFs, the Fast and Furious movies, and car insurance, respectively) are still live on Medium, so check out my profile if you want more.
